Who Got Run Over By A Reindeer?, by Bella Hausel

As Christmas approaches more and  more  radio stations are playing our  favorite tunes.  Whether or not you  like the song “Grandma  Got Run Over  By A Reindeer,” you have  heard of it.  But how many of us have  actually  really thought about the concept of  someone getting hit by a flying  reindeer?

In northern Virginia, 27 year-old Krystine Rivera was out jogging Thursday, at around 6 p.m., when she was hit… by a flying deer. A 71-year-old woman behind the wheel of an SUV hit the animal on her front passenger side while driving southbound on Clairborne Parkway. The force of the hit flung the deer into the air and then came down and knocked into the unlucky Rivera on an adjacent path.  After being treated at Loudoun County hospital, she was released that same night. She suffered a concussion and a few cuts and bruises. She told the Washington Post that she had decided to set out on a seven-mile run after having a bad day at work. Unfortunately for her things got cosmically worse around mile 5. She says that she didn’t see the deer coming and was knocked out on impact only to regained consciousness in the ambulance. The paramedic explained what had happened to her and told her that they had to cut off her running shirt because it was covered in deer blood.

Unlike Santa’s reindeer, this deer did not make it.
