A Review of the Superbowl Experience, by Robert Leslie
Seahawks! Tired of them yet? Of course you’re not. You are Seattle fans, not just bandwagon fans because they did well this year. 12th man and all that. I’m not really that type of person myself. I don’t particularly enjoy sports and I won’t pretend like I do just for other fans. I can say that I am glad that the Seahawks won the Superbowl this year, but it just didn’t matter that much to me. I watch the Superbowl every year just for the camaraderie and the family time of the big Superbowl party. This year, though, was a little different. It was the Seahawks and I thought they had a great chance of winning, so I decided to watch it with a little bit more enthusiasm. I went over to my friend’s church where they were showing the game on a huge screen and there was a ton of people.
Right away I knew that this was going to be very different from my normal, casual, stay-at-home with my parents, Superbowl “party” that I was used to. There were all sorts of people there. The quiet, “Yay, good job” kind of people. The confused, “Something must have just happened and I am now shouting with them!” type. Then finally the “Let us shout the entire game and hug random people we hardly know!!!” type. The last one kind of scared me, but hey, I understand the necessity for all these types of people at a sporting event.
The cute thing that I enjoyed was my friend’s family’s superstition that their dog needed to be wearing a Seahawks jersey. The little dog would waddle around the church wearing this jersey and it was pretty funny. Unfortunately for me, I don’t own a jersey so I had to borrow one to fit in with the crowd and since I am not a bandwagon fan and don’t care that much, I still probably won’t get one.
I really am happy that the Seahawks won this year and it was an amazing game. They were a great team and deserved the win. I’m still a Seattle fan, but I just don’t care that much for sports. I support our teams, but its just not that important. Anyway guys, that was a look at my day and I hope you enjoyed yours. Go Hawks! And all that.
