Track and Field Success
A Note from Coach Cynthia Lysen,
Seattle Lutheran Track and Field competed last Saturday in our state qualifier meet. What we knew- it was win or go home as our bi-district only received 1 of 16 allocations. What I knew- the kids were going do their best regardless of the circumstances and they did.
State Qualifier: Mikey Crawford 110 HH (PR)
2nd Place: Alex Okabayashi 100, Carl Hu 200 (PR), Boys 4×100 Relay: Zach Carver, Carl, Mikey and Alex (PR)
3rd Place: Michael Olson 3200, Matthew Smith Discus (PR), Carter Dullum Javelin, Zach Carver Long Jump
4th Place: Carl 100 (PR), Zach 200 (PR), Olson 1600, Matthew Shot Put, Carter High Jump
5th Place: Alex 200, Leo Cachero 1600 (PR), Matthew Javelin
7th Place: Mikey 100, Alex Long Jump
8th Place: Jake Nguyen 100, 200, Carter Shot Put, Sage Klein Javelin (PR)
I try to tell them if you do your best time/distance (PR) at a meet and get beat you tip you cap to your opponent and you get back to work. They did just that with 8 bests and several near bests.
This team is young and full of potential and I can’t wait to see where it takes them.
Special thanks to Michele Olson for her four years of support, riding the team bus and most importantly (at least the kids probably thought so) for providing healthy food and snacks at the meets. It has been a pleasure.
Thanks to Jen Foster and parents Scott Okabayashi, Kristen Pond Okabayashi, Amy Morrell Crawford, Jeff Crawford, Allison Skalabrin Carver and all the other parents, guardians, hosts for allowing me to work with your wonderful children.
On to Cheney!
