SLHS Sock Drive “Sock it to the Homeless”

Imagine walking around soggy Seattle trying to find shelter, housing, food, or employment. Your feet are soaking wet and you have no dry clean socks to change into. A new pair of socks can lift the spirits of our homeless neighbors and open the door to hopefulness.

Here’s how SLHS students and parents can help-

What:  Participate in our school’s sock drive by donating new (adult size) socks to our homeless neighbors

Where: Drop off at the SLHS office.

When: Sock donations can be taken to the SLHS office Now through May 21st. Or bring your donations to the SLHS Community Night May 21st.

Why: New Socks comfort tired feet, lift weary spirits and give people hope.

For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, 36 I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ Matthew 25:35-36

If every SLHS family donates at least one pair of new socks– 116  of our homeless neighbors will benefit. Our donated socks will be taken to Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission with our gratitude for their expert help coordinating SLHS Mental Health Day and for training parents on mental health first aid.
