African Library Project

Do you have a bunch of old children’s books lying around the house? Why not donate them to a great cause? The Seattle Lutheran Key Club is collecting books to support a youth library in Kenya. English is one of two official languages in Kenya and these books will help children in an area that has limited access to books. All school subjects are taught in English, and a student’s final exam score determines that student’s educational options so the access to books is critical to the education of these children. Limited resources equal limited opportunities.

Our goal is to gather 1500 books to support the African Library Project. If we accomplish this task, a library will be built in Kenya for both children and adults. We are concentrating on books for grade levels k-8 and the books do not need to solely textbook-type readers. All books are welcome as long as they are age-appropriate.

We will be collecting books through next November but would love to get our project kicked off to a great start in this final month of school. Books can be brought to the school office or you can email keyclub206@gmail.com to schedule a pickup. Please tell friends and family as well!
