Seattle Lutheran is dedicated to bringing students the tools and experiences they need in the 21st century. January Term (J-Term) provides in-depth experience in holistic education by adding variety to the normal curriculum and providing a “brain break” for students in-between semesters. Students are able to choose 3 courses to fully immerse themselves in for a total of four weeks. Courses range from coding, escape room design, interior design, stained glass making, bouldering, and pickle ball, to in-depth analysis of literature, cinema and much more. With inventive and passionate teachers from our own staff and outside volunteers from our community, J-Term has a wide array of course offerings. It is an experience like no other and allows to students to engage and immerse themselves in the material.
Seattle Lutheran also provides students an opportunity to explore other parts of the world through the J-Term trip. Past trips include the Caribbean, Costa Rica and most recently, Fiji.
Upcoming J-Term Trip – Spring Break 2022
SLHS is partnering with travel leader Worldstrides to offer a fabulous trip to Florida during J-term (trip ID#198894) during spring break! Watch this video for trip highlights. Please note students in this video are in middle school but our trip is a high school trip. Adventures will include snorkeling, swimming with dolphins, visiting a sea turtle hospital, and hiking through Everglades National Park. The trip will be led by a Worldstrides tour guide and a SLHS staff member. COVID-19 safety protocols will be in place and most of the trip is outside. More details to follow soon.
